Frequently Asked Questions

What is Secured By Design and PAS 24?

Secured by Design focuses on crime prevention of homes and commercial premises and promotes the use of security standards for a wide range of applications and products. Our composite doors are UKAS accredited.

Can I Paint My Solidor?

The door finish does resemble an authentic timber look, however, it is not faced with timber and is finished with an ABS plastic skin and a UPVC edge banding material. This finish combined with the Solidor timber core means the door is virtually maintenance free and will never require painting.

If you wish to paint the face of your doors, please be aware any warranty you have will not cover any damage to the skin or its finish.

What are the maintenance and care guidelines?

The key to the composite doors is they are low maintenance and easy to clean. When cleaning the glass and exterior of the door, use a soft cloth and use soap and warm water to remove any external grime. Do not use any solvent based or abrasive cleaners. To prolong the life of the surface finish, it is recommended that the door slab is cleaned regularly with warm soapy water and wiped dry with a soft cloth.

How do I get additional keys for my Composite Door?

When ordering your door, it is important to choose whether you would like to have either 6 keys or 3. Please make sure you advise your installer on this at the earliest point. If you already have a composite door and need extra keys, these can be ordered at any point by contacting the lock cylinder manufacturer. You need the ‘U’ code that is engraved on the original keys.
